It may be a win or go home time for Team USA ( 2-1 ). I know it's hard to believe that a team with a star studded lineup like this one is in what comes down to a one game playoff. But that's where team USA may be after taking an embarrassing loss in Pool Play to Mexico 11-5 on Sunday.
The States “Boys of Summer” bounced back in a huge way with a big 12-1 dub vs Canada late Monday night. But beneath that shiny 12 run number is the fact 9 of those runs came in the first. Leaving just 3 runs coming in crooked innings. That's the bottom line here as the States get set for tonight's matchup with Colombia.
Columbia is playing for nothing but pride here. They sit along with Great Britain at the bottom of the pool, the Columbian crew 1-2 and GB is 1-3 in the standings. while the U.S team is tied with Canada and Mexico at 2-1. It's hard to fathom that the hopes and dreams of these players and most of the baseball loving people of the United states rest on the arm of Diamondbacks right hander Merrill Kelly.
Colombia dropped games to both Great Britain 7-5 and Canada 5-0 while tossing a monkey wrench into the standings beating Mexico 5-4 in ten innings. The two losses have the Columbians headed home no matter the outcome of tonight's contest. But you and i know they would love to go back to their country and respective ball clubs with a win vs the pool favorites
IF ( big if ) the American team loses there are tiebreakers that could get them into the knockout round. But lets just take care of business here and eliminate the if this and that happens USA is moving on cenarios shall we ?
