Who Will Have a Better Year: Garrett Wilson Jr. or Jahan Dotson?

The NFL season is upon us here and there are always good debates to have. Fantasy football owners love to debate who they would rather have. There are tons of rookie wide receivers to choose from this year in the fantasy football draft. Two rookies that people will want to keep an eye on is New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson Jr. and Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson though.

They both have their pros and cons for taking a chance on them this season. Who is going to have a better year potentially though, Garrett Wilson Jr. of the New York Jets or Jahan Dotson of the Washington Commanders?

Garrett Wilson Jr.

Garrett Wilson Jr. is 6’0″ and weighs 183 lbs for the New York Jets. He will most likely be the number two wide receiver for New York behind Elijah Moore though. Wilson Jr. was a first-round pick of the 2022 NFL Draft (10th overall) out of the Ohio State University. He is very speedy, runs great routes, and has also great hands.

Wilson Jr. in 11 games last season with the Ohio State Buckeyes caught 70 passes for 1,058 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 15.1 yards per catch. Garrett Wilson Jr. also rushed for 76 yards on four carries and a touchdown last season. He averaged 19.0 yards per carry.

Jahan Dotson

Jahan Dotson is 5’11” and weighs 184 lbs. He was a first-round selection (11th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Penn State University. Dotson is most likely going to be the third wide receiver on Washington’s roster behind Curtis Samuel and Terry McLaurin. Jahan Dotson will most likely be a slot wide receiver and catch passes from Carson Wentz.

In 12 games last season with the Penn State Nittany Lions, he caught 91 passes for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 13.0 yards per catch. Dotson also rushed for 18 yards on six carries and a touchdown last season though. Jahan Dotson averaged 3.0 yards per carry though.

Conclusion

Garrett Wilson Jr. is going to have a better fantasy football season than Jahan Dotson for a couple of reasons. Wilson Jr. has a quarterback in Zach Wilson who is much better at the deep ball than Carson Wentz is for Washington. Wilson Jr. is higher on the depth chart than Jahan Dotson is though. Wilson Jr. might be closer to 60 receptions 800 yards and 8 touchdowns this season compared to Dotson with 53 catches with 515 yards and 6 touchdowns this season though.
