Tuesday Tidbits You Might Have Missed


NFL


  • Daniel Jones and the New York Giants reached an agreement just before the deadline on Tuesday. The 25-year-old quarterback pulled in a 4-year, $160 million contract with the possibility of $35 million in incentives. Reaching a deal before the deadline allowed the Giants to then place a franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley.



  • The Baltimore Raven placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on their quarterback Lamar Jackson. Over a year of negotiations came up empty so the franchise tag was applied on the last day of the deadline. The non-exclusive qb tag has a price tag of $32.4 million.



  • The Miami Dolphins are set to release cornerback Byron Jones on March 15th. The 30-year-old missed the entirety of the 2022 season recovering from a torn Achilles. The move will free up $13.6 million in cap space.





NBA


  • The Los Angeles Lakers moved into 9th place in the Western Conference on Tuesday night after beating a Memphis Grizzlies team 112-103, that continues to play without Ja Morant. Anthony Davis had 30 points and 22 rebounds, Dennis Schröder contributed 17 points and 9 assists.



  • The Milwaukee Bucks continue on their hot streak, picking up win 18 out of 19 games on Tuesday night, beating the Orlando Magic 134-123. Brook Lopez scored 26 points, Khris Middleton and Jevon Carter each contributed 24 points.


  • The Charlotte Hornets put an end to the New York Knicks 9-game winning streak on Tuesday night winning 112-105. Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 27 points, Terry Rozier added 25.





NHL


  • San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson was handed a 10-minute misconduct for tossing his helmet after being frustrated over a missed call early in the 3rd period. Karlsson took a high stick to the face from Avalanche forward Alex Newhook, was bleeding and the hit did not pull a penalty.



  • Tampa Bay Lightnings Victor Hedman had to leave Sundays game against the Carolina Hurricanes after crashing hard into the boards as a result of a hit from Andrei Svechnikov. The team saying Tuesday that Hedman has avoided serious injury but is day-to-day at this point.
