  1. The Philadelphia 76er’s put an end to their first round series on Thursday night when they demolished the Toronto Raptors 132-97 in game 6. Joel Embiid had 33 points and 10 rebounds while Harden added 22 points and 15 assists. The 76er’s will face the Miami Heat for game 1 of the second round, on Monday night in South Florida.


  1. Chris Paul goes a magnificent 14 for 14 and turns in the BEST shooting night in NBA playoff history. Devin Booker made his return after being out with a hamstring injury. Booker played 32 min, scored 13 points and hit a late 3-pointer to help lift the Phoenix Suns over the New Orleans Pelicans 115-109 to end the series in game 6. Phoenix will move on to round 2 and face the Dallas Mavericks.

  1. The Dallas Mavericks wrapped up their first round series in game 6 against the Utah Jazz, narrowly beating them 98-96. Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson both contributed 24 points to the Mavericks win. Donovan Mitchell had 23 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds for Utah in their losing effort.

  1. The Seattle Mariners sent a letter to MLB to formally complain about the umpires unusually large strike zone for their prized rookie, Julio Rodriguez. Despite the letter being sent before Thursdays game, things boiled over on Thursday when home-plate umpire Shane Livensparger hung up the rookie on a pitch that looked high. Mariners manager Scott Servais was ejected after arguing another high-pitch in the same at-bat. Rodriguez has struck out 28 times this season, 17 of those coming on a called 3rd strike.

  1. The brawl between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets on Wednesday has now resulted in 2 suspensions for the Cardinals, 3rd baseman Nolan Arenado and reliever Genisis Cabrera. Arenado for 2 games and Cabrera for just 1. Cabrera served his suspension on Thursday while Arenado appealed and is allowed to play until his appeal is heard.

  1. The Los Angeles Kings announced Thursday that veteran Dustin Brown will retire after the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Brown has spent his entire 18-year career with the Kings. He was drafted 13th overall in 2003.

  1. The Chicago Blackhawks have hired longtime Chicago Cubs executive Jeff Greenberg as associate general manager under new GM Kyle Davidson on Thursday.
