This time the Story Was True : Trevor Story to the Red Sox

In a Move that shocked Red Sox Nation,  Chaim Bloom has signed Trevor Story to a Six Year 149 million dollar deal. a deal that sadly but not as shockingly as the signing itself includes a type of opt out after the forth season.

Story Red Sox deal is $140M, 6 years. There’s a complicated opt-out in it whereby if he opts out the Red Sox retain an option to keep him at different terms. — Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) March 20, 2022

Story sat back and bided his time while: Carlos Correa – Marcus Semien – Javier Baez and Corey Seager all reached deals getting themselves into camps . In the end I believe Boston is the best place for him. But im not as sure he is the best player for Boston. even if he is moved from Short. Speculation is Story will be moved to second base. Leaving Xander Bogaerts to remain at Shortstop in his own optout season would be the smart play. ( Keep the X Man Happy). Story has never played a position other than shortstop. But this could be a smart move for Story who has had elbow issues. How he would handle moving to the other side of the infield is a mystery, Things are very different on the right side of the infield.

Xander Bogaerts just came in from hitting when he was told about Trevor Story. Said he will comment more when it’s official but he’s happy the Red Sox added another bat. “He’s a great player.” — Jason Mastrodonato (@JMastrodonato) March 20, 2022

Right Side Right Field Right Now

The drum has been beaten by many that the Boston was in desperate need of a right handed power bat to even out the lefty heavy top of the Red Sox lineup . But is Story is the perfect candidate? He has injury history and his numbers away from Coors are awful. But he brings both power and speed to Boston.  The departure of Hunter Renfro’s production created a serious hole for the Sox to fill. This move takes care of a second base hole – keeps Kike Hernandez in center. And allows the possibility that Christian Arroyo could platoon in Right w Jackie Bradley Jr. My man Smitty had a great write up on this just yesterday.

If Boston Red Sox sign Trevor Story, Christian Arroyo willing to learn outfield; ‘Whatever I need to do, I’ll do it’ Arroyo also wants them to sign Story "However they think we can add players of that caliber here, I’m totally down for it.”https://t.co/EV5KqabVsp — Christopher Smith (@SmittyOnMLB) March 19, 2022

In short. This is a great day for Trevor Story . A great day for Boston Red Sox ? I’m not so sure.
