Sunday Summary Just In Case You Missed Something


NFL

  • Sunday saw another couple players go down and into concussion protocol. Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints was slammed to the ground, his head hitting first, while making a touchdown catch. The Saints hung on to beat the Seattle Seahawks 39-32. In the 1st half of the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets game backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down after taking a huge hit from cornerback Ahmad Gardner. Ultimately entering concussion protocol under the new guidelines after a spotter saw him stumble. Miami went on to lose 40-17.


  • Baltimore Ravens kicker, Justin Tucker, nailed a 43-yard field goal on the final play to lift the Ravens over the Cincinnati Bengals 19-17 on Sunday night. Placing them in sole possession of the top spot in the AFC North. Tucker also hit a 58-yarder in the 3rd quarter. The 32-year-old successfully extended his streak to 61 straight field goals in the 4th quarter and overtime.



  • The Philadelphia Eagles held on beating the Arizona Cardinals 20-17 and remaining as the only undefeated team in the league. The Eagles holding on the the victory after Cardinals kicker Matt Ammendola's late 4th quarter field goal attempt drifted wide right on him. Jalen Hurts scoring both of Phillies touchdowns, running them in from 1-yard out.





MLB

  • The San Diego Padres shutout the New York Mets 6-0 in game 3 of their best of 3 wild card series. The Padres will now move on to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. The series will begin Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.



  • The New York Yankees will reportedly be leaving former closer Aroldis Chapman off of the roster going into the ALDS where they will face the Cleveland Guardians. Chapman also being fined after missing a mandatory workout on Friday. General Manager Brian Cashman had this to say about the situation :

"There's been questions about whether (Chapman) is all-in or not."
