The Toronto Blue Jays pull off a stunning comeback to put an end to the New York Yankees 9 game win streak.  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. smashed his 5th career grand slam, Teoscar Hernández hit a go-ahead, three-run homer and Toronto beat New York 10-9. Josh Donaldson, Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Kyle Higashioka and Marwin Gonzalez hit a home run a piece for the Yankees. New York has won 16 out of their last 18 games despite the loss Sunday.

  1. San Deiago Padres 3rd baseman Manny Machado had to exit Sundays game against the Colorado Rockies in the 1st inning. After hitting a ground ball Machado appeared to roll his left ankle as he was reaching 1st base. Xrays came back negative and he was diagnosed with an ankle sprain.

  1. Andrés Giménez hit in the go-ahead run with the bases-loaded in the 9th inning. Oscar Gonzalez hit his 1st major league homerun and scored the winning run, helping the Cleveland Guardians rally for the win 5-3 over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Guardians took 2 out of the 3 games in the series against the Dodgers and have won 15 of their last 19.

  1. Arizona Diamondbacks rookie Buddy Kennedy in his 9th major league at bat and his 1st with bases loaded was up 3-0 in the count. Wrapped up in the nerves never looked at the 3rd base coach for the take signal and instead swung away. Kennedy sent it over the left field wall for his 1st career grand slam. The Diamondbacks beat the Minnesota Twins 7-1.

  1. The Dallas Stars are expected to name Peter DeBoer as the next head coach. DeBoer was fired by the Vegas Golden Knights after the team failed to make the playoffs this season. Veteran Rick Bowness chose to step down as head coach after the Stars fell to the Calgary Flames in the 1st round.

  1. Shane Wright has been the projected top pick of the 2022 NHL draft from the time he was 15 years old and was granted exceptional status into the OHL. The Montreal Canadians are hosting this years draft and will have the No. 1 pick.

Wright said about being ready “I think I am. I really do. Just based off watching out there, it’s fast. It’s going to be an adjustment at the start. The biggest thing is going to be the speed and just kind of learning the league.”  he later said about the Canadians “I really love what they’re all about, what they were saying about the city and describing the organization and describing where they want to go in the future and them wanting to build a winning franchise.”
