Alex Verdugo hit his first home run in almost two years, sorry  I meant two months , and  Raffy Devers went yard in his fourth straight game ! For the second time in his career. ( please just sign him.)  And Josh Winckowski earned his first major league career win as the Boston Red Sox beat the Oakland Athletics 10-1 Wednesday night at Fenway. It’s a great day for America everybody

Most HR at the age of 25 or younger, Red Sox history: Tony Conigliaro – 160 Jim Rice – 133 Rafael Devers – 128 Ted Williams – 127 — J.P. Long (@SoxNotes) June 16, 2022

“He’s one of the best hitters in the big leagues, The way he acted in spring training, we had a feeling it was going to be something like this, and it’s coming true.”

Boston manager Alex Cora

Red Sox offense cannot be stopped right now. Alex Verdugo even hits a home run for the first time since mid-April. pic.twitter.com/bnG5Xgnl49 — Jordan Moore (@iJordanMoore) June 16, 2022

Verdugo went deep for the first time since April 16, a two-run oppo blast in the sixth. He had four RBI on the night.

“I kind of forgot how it felt,” Verdugo said of his homer. “No really, it felt good, man. Obviously, I knew it’s been a while since I put one over the fence, so to come up to get some extra insurance and to see one leave the yard, was just a big relief, kind of like a monkey off my back.”

The Red Sox put up two runs in the fourth after Jarren Duran and Devers led off with back-to-back walks. Xander Bogaerts had a sacrifice fly and a single by Verdugo set up a single by Trevor Story that A’s third baseman Kaprielian threw away. Scoring Durran and the Lovable Menace.

Back-to-back one-out doubles by J.D. Martinez and Bogaerts and a two-out single by Story added two runs in the eighth. ( Look i typed Trevor Story and it wasn’t crushing him )

Winckowski went to work for 5 scoreless innings 👊 pic.twitter.com/Omyx1Ow2ha — Red Sox (@RedSox) June 16, 2022

Winckowski (1-1) was called up from Wooster  to make his second big league league start and looked marvelous; The 23-year-old righty pitched five scoreless . allowed just four hits, struck out three and walked one.

#RedSox have now won 11 of 13 and are 8-1-1 I’m their last 10 series. Say what you want about the opponents their facing, but they’re taking care of business. 2nd-best run differential in the American League at +54. 6th-best in all of baseball. Don’t say it.#DirtyWater| #MLB pic.twitter.com/dXERFbF9Ji — Tyler Milliken ⚾️ (@tylermilliken_) June 16, 2022

Boston has won 11 of its last 13 games, outscoring opponents 65-27 in that span.
