Second Round Gems In the 2022 NFL Draft

Not every NFL Draft player can be a first-round pick. There are those that have starter’s value in the second round of the NFL Draft. They want to prove that they were first-round picks and make a name for themselves in the NFL. The first round of the NFL Draft will be on Thursday, April 28th. The second and the third rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft will be on Friday, April 29th. The fourth thru seventh rounds of the NFL Draft will be on Saturday, April 30th.

I have done tons of mock drafts in the first round on draftnetwork.com. Who are some of the potential second-round gems to watch in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft?

Perrion Winfrey, DL, Oklahoma

Winfrey has been a starter the last two seasons at the University of Oklahoma. He is 6’4″ and weighs 303 lbs. Perrion Winfrey’s fit is more of a 4-3 defensive scheme. In 11 games last season, he had 23 total tackles and 11 of them were for a loss. Winfrey also recorded 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia

Dean has been projected to go in the first round of NFL Mock Drafts and now he is projected to go in the second round. Nakobe Dean is an NFL starting linebacker and can be a machine at the position. He is one of the reasons why Georgia’s defense was elite last season and won the National Championship.

He is 5’11” and weighs 226 lbs. In 15 games with Georgia last season, he recorded 72 tackles and 10.5 of them were for a loss. Nakobe Dean also recorded six sacks, two interceptions, one touchdown, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State

Watson is going to be one of the best offensive players available in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He is going to be a starter from day one in the NFL for teams that need a playmaker. Christian Watson’s knock is that he went to an FCS school. He is 6’4″ and weighs 208 lbs. Watson is going to make catches in traffic and be a big red zone threat for quarterbacks.

He caught 43 passes for 800 yards receiving and seven touchdowns last season. Christian Watson also rushed for 114 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown.
