Saturday Shenanigans You Might Have Missed


NFL


  • The Kansas City Chiefs held on yesterday and pulled out the win 27-20 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes missed most of the 2nd quarter after a jaguars player landed awkwardly on his ankle, he returned in the 2nd half. Mahomes after the game talking about the 2nd half and how he got through it as well as where he stands with the ankle injury:

“I mean, it’s a credit to the guys around me. The offensive line kept me clean in the pocket, knowing that I couldn’t move, and guys made plays around me. That’s what a great team does, is when somebody gets a little banged up, everybody around them steps up. Yeah, X-rays were negative and they haven’t diagnosed anything yet, but I’ll be good to go.”



  • The Philadelphia Eagles rolled over the New York Giants beating them 38-7. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts putting to rest any unease there was about the shoulder injury he has been dealing with. Head Coach Nick Sirianni saying after the game:

“To have him out there, I know this is high praise, it's like having Michael Jordan out there. He's your leader. He's your guy. That's the biggest respect I can pay to him.”



  • Joey Bosa, pass-rusher for the Los Angeles Chargers, has been fined by the NFL. He was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct as well as public criticism of officiating following last weeks loss to the Jaguars. The 27-year-old was handed fines totaling $55,546. $29,785 and $13,261 for 2 sperate instances of poor sportsmanship and $12,500 for his comments regarding NFL referees. Bosa's comments about the officiating that landed him in hot water:

"If I say something to them I get a $40,000 fine but if they blow a call that ruins an entire team's season, they'll probably be back in the locker room after the game like, 'Haha, got that asshole, oh yeah, got him 15 yards, what a loser.' I guarantee it, that's what they're f-----g talking like in the back. I'm sick of those f-----g people."

NBA


  • The Boston Celtics found a way to pull it out again, getting their 9th win in a row, beating the Toronto Raptors 106-104. Boston overcoming Jayson Tatum not being on the court and losing Marcus Smart in the final minute of the 1st half to an ankle injury. Grant Williams put down a career high 25 points and Jaylen Brown coming up with 27. Head coach Joe Mazzulla saying after the game:

“It says a lot about our team. In the beginning of the game, you could obviously feel that we just didn’t have the juice. We just kept playing. We never wavered, we made great plays. Guys did a great job managing the game.”



  • Evan Mobley scored a career-high 38 points helping lift the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Milwaukee Bucks 114-102. The win comes 1 night after a slightly embarrassing loss to the Golden State Warriors, that played without 4 of their starters in the game.
