Red Sox Win Fifth Straight While Devers Slumps.

The Red Sox kept surging last night taking their fifth straight win and third in a row over Toronto 8-3 . Nick Pivetta evened up his record at (2-2) Pivetta went six innings and gave up just 3 runs, on 5 hits with 6 K’s while walking just 1 batter. Even riding a five game win streak that's rare around here … Pivetta gave up solo shots to Daulton Varsho in the second inning and Vlad Guerrero Jr in the third. Guerrero's shot was last seen on the Pike. Other than that he was brilliant.

At the plate it was a doubles fest for the Red Sox. Turner - Wong - Yoshida and even Triston Cases hit two baggers in the contest. Casas - Yoshida and Valdez each drove in two runs while Hernandez and Jarren Duran both stayed hot and drove in a run each. Yoshida is now riding a 13 game hit streak.

The news wasn't all good. Boston left 13 men on base in the contest and were 7 for 13 with RISP. when you look at this number it’s close to fantastic. But the underlying story is Rafael Devers was 0-3 with runners in scoring position. And he is just 2 for his last 12 at the plate.

While it’s a bit concerning that the lovable menace isn't finding holes or driving the ball to gaps. Devers is batting .226 on the season. A month ago that number was .348. It's great to see others step up over the past 5 games and drive this bus. It's something at the start of the season I as many of you were quite worried about. But step up they are and driving the bus and the ball they are. We all know Devers will right the ship. This is baseball and slumps happen. When you’re Rafael Devers you also know they will end.
