More on that below , The Bloom Sox beat Tampa Bay 9-8 on Friday night. Wow two in a row ! “ How about that ! “ Mel Allen Voice  …

FINAL: Red Sox 5 Rays 1 — Boston Strong (@BostonStrong_34) August 27, 2022

The Red Sox (62-65) had dropped four straight before the wild card leading  Rays arrived at Fenway Park. Boston is now 3-13-1 in series against AL East clubs on the season. Excuse me while I go throw up ……. But yesterday Hill put the Sox on his back and was untouchable for most of this game The ageless lefty allowed only 3 hits (two didn’t leave the infield) he walked just one batter over seven beautiful innings of 85 pitch baseball.

Rich Hill is 42 years old and just struck out 11 hitters in 7 innings. Respect Dick Mountain. Absolute clinic. — Tyler Milliken ⚾️ (@tylermilliken_) August 27, 2022

The Sox jumped on Tampa starter Jeffrey Springs, sending nine men to the plate in the first inning, scoring four runs. The first pair coming off a monster thumping single by J.D Martinez. And then Dalbeck weak single to center. Kiké Hernández went yard leading off the fourth. There you have it 5-0 sox. The Rays would avoid the shutout when Jeurys Familia gave up three hits and an earned run in .02 of the eighth. John Schreiber got the 4 out save. oh and Trevor Story is back from the DL He went 1-3 on the day and scored a run. The Sox smartly optioned Jarren Duran to AAA where he belongs.
