Red Sox, Pivetta Beat Braves 7-1

Red Sox Bullpen Ace Nick Pivetta threw five scoreless innings of relief. Masataka Yoshida goes yard and the Sox hit into the first triple play of 2023. Film at Eleven.

The Red Sox continue to beat the Best Teams in Baseball, they proved that with a 7-1 victory over the ( 64-35 ) MLB leading Atlanta Braves Monday night. unfortunately they continue to lose to the worst teams in baseball hence their own heads barely above water

( 54-37 ) record. But hey let's all rejoice. They picked up games on both the Orioles and the Rays last night and the Yankees are in the cellar in the AL East . but lets digress

Pivetta (7-5) has been lights out of late. His five innings of scoreless relief last night are just the beginning of his tale. Over his last five appearances he has given Red sox faithful 21 innings of work, while allowing just 4 earned runs striking out 33 batters and walking just 6. What's most impressive is the Sox have won all five of these games.

Oh the offense, the sox put up 7 runs last night. Brave’s starter Charlie Morton struggled as the Sox got his pitch count up with long at bat after long at bat. He lasted just 3.2 and gave up 4 earned runs before being yanked after 80 pitches. Every starter in the lineup had at least one hit. Raffy Devers had 2 singles and a RBI and Masataka Yoshida just can't be stopped. Three hits on the night including a HR in the eighth and 2 RBI. Jarren Duran scored a run and swiped 2 more bases. And things could have been worse for Morton as he was helped out with more dumbass baserunning by the old town team.

In the third inning with two on and no outs the sox managed to run into a triple play. Duran hit a shallow fly to center and Michael Harris promptly threw out Adam Duval who was caught between first and second. But here’s the kicker. Yoshida had tagged up at second and tried to get to third on the throw. All Star first basemen Matt Olsen wasn't having any of that and gunned down Masa. two on no outs and nothing to show for it, all because ? Stupid.

If the final score wasn't 7-1 you could have cried, but it was. And it's hard to get on Masa the way he has been hitting and playing defense as of late. The Sox shipped Kike Hernandez back to the Dodgers for a pair of right handed pitchers Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman. late yesterday afternoon. This move should help Alex Cora with the wheeling and dealing he’s had to deal with since Tanner Houck went down. There are only 5 days left until the trade deadline. Will Bloom invest in his team like you have ? or will he slow roll with the returning injured players as his big moves? I'm thinking it will be the latter.
