The Red Sox are now 60-62 . A 3-3 road trip. Three and Three: Against the Pirates and the Orioles. That’s what’s brought us to this lowly state. While they took 2-3 from the Bucs, a split with Pittsburgh and Baltimore, was not what Alex Cora had in mind when he left Boston a few short days ago. After showing the Yankee’s who’s the boss and taking two of three in the lovely steel city. They end up 3-3 after dropping 2-3 to the O’s. Adn sit 6 full games back for the last wildcard spot. No wonder i day drink.

Home cooking
But have no fear. ( Did I sound convincing?) The Sox have a six game homestand about to kick off tomorrow, Three games against Toronto (65-55) and three against Tampa ( 65-55 ). Both teams playing better ball than the Old Town Team. The Jays are 5-5 in their last 10 and the Rays are 7-3. Yes I know the Sox are 6-4 over that same ten game span but I still have to give the nod to the clubs the Sox are looking up at. The only glimmer of hope is the Sox sleeping in their own beds and eating home cooking.. Both the Rays (27-32 ) and the Jays (29-30) play their worst ball on the road. Can this team shake off the Bloom I mean gloom to get right over these next six ?
Xander Bogaerts homers for the first time in 58 ABs. He’s up to 10 HR on the season. Red Sox pull within 2. pic.twitter.com/OBwl30A0Id — Tyler Milliken ⚾️ (@tylermilliken_) August 22, 2022
No Soup for Nate
Nate Eovaldi wont make his scheduled start in Tuesday’s opener. Chris Cotillo of Mass Live reported last week Nate would miss his start in Pitt and be pushed back. But he is still dealing with a trapezius issue and again wont take the hill in the opener. I don’t need to tell you when the sox have needed its best pitchers this year they have been rehabbing or shelved all together. Let’s hope a few more days off can get Nathan back in form for the back end of this short homestand.

I’m tired of writing about how important this next set of games is going to be for the Sox. It feels like there’s been at least one opening to a paragraph I’ve written about this team since June. is it just me ? No it can’t be. A good deal of Red Sox Nation has turned its focus to the Patriots. Maybe rightfully so. Only the diehards and blind are still grasping at straws. Six Straws to be exact. Six games to make the six that follow relevant . and a few of us glued to our seats.
