Red Sox Continue Building the Back End, Sign RP Chris Martin

The Red Sox have inked Right Handed reliever Chris Martin to a two-year, $17.5 million contract. a source told MLB.com's Jon Morosi who broke the story. The club has not confirmed the deal, and is still pending a physical.



Martin, 36, struck out 34 and walked just one in 24 2/3 innings after the Dodgers acquired him from the Cubs at the Trade Deadline. In 60 appearances overall in 2022, the seven-year veteran fanned 74 and walked five in 56 innings and went 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA. in 251 career innings pitched (all out of the pen) Martin has struck out 261 batters and given up a mere 34 walks.



Martin Broke in worth the Rockies in 2014 and has bounced around both the junior and senior circuits since. A season in the Bronx with The Yankees, two years in Texas with the Rangers and three in Atlanta where he picked up a World Series Ring in 2020 . This past season he pitched with the Cubs and Dodgers. Over his eight year career he has pitched 14. ⅓ postseason innings to a 1.88 ERA
