Philadelphia Eagles Losing Opens Up Door For New York Giants

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their first game of the season against the Washington Commanders at home on Monday night football by a final score of 32-21. With Philadelphia losing to Washington at home, this potentially opens up the door for the New York Giants to win the NFC East.
The Eagles are 8-1. Even with the loss, they are currently the number one seed in the NFC, but they now have to be careful. The Minnesota Vikings are also 8-1 in the NFC standings and lead the NFC North. Philadelphia owns the tiebreaker over Minnesota because the Philadelphia Eagles already beat the Minnesota Vikings head-to-head in Week 2.
In the NFC East Standings, the New York Giants are 7-2 record-wise and New York is just one game back of the Philadelphia Eagles for first place in the NFC East and also the number one seed in the NFC. The Giants have yet to face Philadelphia this season and control their own destiny in the NFC. They will face each other in Week 18. It could potentially be for the NFC East division title and the number one seed up for grabs.
The Dallas Cowboys are 6-3 and the Washington Commanders are 5-4. Anyone except for Washington can win the division, but all of them can potentially make it to the playoffs in the NFC.
New York fans thought they were going to be in a rebuild all season long, but being in the divisional race this late in the regular season is a win in itself. The New York Giants are in this situation thanks to a lot of people. The defense, Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones, Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen, Mike Kafka, and Wink Martindale. New York has established a new culture.
The Giants control their own destiny because they have five games remaining within the NFC East and they also face the Minnesota Vikings late in the season. Some of the other games they play are between the Detroit Lions and also the Indianapolis Colts.
A lot of people think the Giants are the worst 7-2 team ever, but they defeated the current 3rd seed in the AFC, the Tennessee Titans back in Week 1, and the current 4th seed in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 6. The narrative about the New York Giants not being a good football team is ridiculous.
They may have flaws and they may be rebuilding, but the Philadelphia Eagles losing a game finally cracks the door open for the New York Giants to win the NFC East title for the first time since the 2011 season when they won Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots a second time. The New York Giants at this point have nothing to lose and everything to gain and playing with house money.
