Patriots Bring Back Malcolm Butler

It should be a shock to no one that the Patriots are bringing back Malcom Butler. The Super bowl XLIX Hero and Super bowl LII mystery fits right into the Camp Counselor mentality of this off season.

Looks like the NFL didn’t have a picture of Malcolm Butler in a #Patriots jersey, luckily we found one. Welcome back champ @Mac_BZ https://t.co/cdMJWEBRCr pic.twitter.com/J5Wfh6plOk — The Camera Guys (@NBCSCameraGuys) March 23, 2022

Camp Counselors

guide and ensure the safety of children as they engage in camp activities. They assist in the activity planning process, receive special training to fully support children, and lead them as they participate in camp events. This seems to be the theme of the Patriots offseason to date. Bring back veteran players whom Bill trusts to teach the new guys coming in both last and this year’s drafts on “The Patriots Way.” on cheap deals.

Are the @Patriots doing enough in free agency? “Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful.” – #WarrenBuffett #NFL @nflnetwork @cfrelund @WillieMcGinest @Mike_Yam pic.twitter.com/BLEdQi8KLl — Scott Pioli (@scottpioli51) March 24, 2022

This is not to say it’s money wasted. On the contrary, it’s money well spent. The Patriots coaching staff can best be described as a game of musical chairs. And having vets to work the record players is a great way to mitigate what some are calling the worst coaching staff in the NFL. Not me but some.

Back to Butler

Malcolm, now 32 is back on a two year deal worth nine million dollars, which is money well spent IF he is being brought back as a depth “ Camp counselor “ piece. If the Patriots are going to roll the dice once again and draft a player high in April’s draft. If he isn’t. And is actually going to be depended on to replace J.C. Jackson this is a terrible move. Even if some say as of 2020 he was still quick enough and still twitchy enough. Enough is Enough.

Loaded

The AFC east is loaded with talent at the wide receiver spot. Stefon Diggs has been replaced as the top WR in the Division by Tyreek Hill. That being said DB’s will also have to deal with Jaylen Waddle – Devonte Parker in Miami. Gabriel Davis , and the aforementioned now second fiddle, Stefon Diggs in Buffalo. Not to mention I’m sure the Jets will use one of their first round picks on a high end wideout. Because the pretty boy needs all the help he can get.

Drafting a Corner

Have all these moves and potential moves force Belichick’s hand ? Will he have to draft a CB in the first round of this year’s draft ? hell no. This is year two of a massive rebuild. Yes I still see this as year two. The Patriots will have massive amounts of cap space next season. Could he still sign another CB this year , sure and I hope he does. But relax people The Hoodie will find a CB in this draft, it doesn’t mean it has to be on day one. Rome wasn’t rebuilt in a day.
