NFL Draft- First Round Mock 1/30/23

We're post-Conference Championship games. Here is my current mock picking for all teams with no trades.

  1. Chicago Bears- Jalen Carter (DL) Georgia- Chris Jones proved that interior pressure makes a great offense skittish. Build from the inside.

  2. Houston Texans- Bryce Young (QB) Alabama- Get the franchise signal caller for new coach Demeco Ryans.

  3. Arizona Cardinals- Will Anderson JR (EDGE) Alabama- Outside of Kyler Murray, they need to build from scratch.

  4. Indianapolis Colts- Will Levis (QB) Kentucky- The Colts higher-ups are in love with Levis.

  5. Seattle Seahawks via Denver- Tyree Wilson (EDGE) Texas Tech- Luxury pick for the Seahawks, they continue to retool the defense.

  6. Detroit Lions via Rams- Myles Murphy (EDGE) Clemson- This team is a few players on Defense away from being a force, paired with Hutchinson.

  7. Oakland Raiders- CJ Stroud (QB) Ohio St- McDaniels gets his signal-caller in Vegas to keep the weapons happy.

  8. Atlanta Falcons- Christian Gonzalez (CB) Oregon- The key EDGE guys are gone and the depth at the position is solid in this class.

  9. Carolina Panthers- Quentin Johnson (WR) TCU- I think Corral and Darnold get a chance in Carolina with some changes in weapons.

  10. Philadelphia Eagles via Saints- Bijan Robinson (RB) Texas- Miles Sanders is most likely heading elsewhere (cough: Bills) Solid weapon to keep the success going.

  11. Tennessee Titans- Paris Johnson Jr (OT) Ohio St- Lewan has an injury history and huge cap number.

  12. Houston Texans- Bryan Bresee (DT) Clemson- Demeco Ryans will build this Defense from the inside out.

  13. New York Jets- Peter Skoronski (OT) Northwestern- Robert Saleh and the Jets went through a huge number of OTs this season. He starts somewhere on Day One. Ultimately really is Green Bay pick.

  14. New England Patriots- Devon Witherspoon (CB) Illinois- The Pats need an alpha against the AFC East WR. Also, connect the tea leaves.

  15. Green Bay Packers- Michael Maher (TE) Security blanket for Jordan Love. He is a 3-down Inline TE.

  16. Washington Commanders- Cam Smith (CB) South Carolina- The front is incredible, William Jackson didn't work out. It's time to match up the back end.

  17. Pittsburgh Steelers- Joey Porter Jr (CB) In this draft, this is the perfect marriage.

  18. Detroit Lions- Kelee Ringo (CB) Evaluations are all over the place on Ringo. He and Murphy are a nice combo for the Lions.

  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR) Ohio St- With the departure of Brady, many things will change. It's a position of need for the future.

  20. Seattle Seahawks- Anthony Richardson (QB) Florida- He sits behind Geno Smith, getting acclimated to the system.

  21. L.A Chargers- Jordan Addison (WR) USC- A newer toy for Herbert, injuries have been big in the WR group.

  22. Baltimore Ravens- Clark Phillips III (CB) Utah- Slot CB to match up with the Bengals, they're hunters in Baltimore, not the hunted.

  23. Minnesota Vikings- Trenton Simpson (LB) Clemson- Youth at the position is a must. This is a stud LB.

  24. Jacksonville Jaguars- Darnell Washington (TE) Georgia- Imagine 12 Personnel with Washington and Engram (if back).

  25. New York Giants- Jalin Hyatt (WR) Tennessee- Daboll needs his new lead WR, just watch the Alabama tape.

  26. Dallas Cowboys- Brian Branch (S) Alabama- A nice fit in the secondary, he's got some great versatility.

  27. Buffalo Bills- O'Cyrus Torrence (IOL) Florida- You protect the franchise when it's needed. Beane just drafts so well.

  28. Cincinnati Bengals- Broderick Jones (OL) Georgia- He can fit multiple spots on a team that is always short in the playoffs along the line.

  29. New Orleans Saints- Hendon Hooker (QB) Tennessee- 5-year commitment, you wait for him to heal but healthy, he's a First-Round talent.

  30. Kansas City Chiefs- Felix Anudike-Uzomah (EDGE) Kansas St- Getting younger at EDGE and looking to move on from Frank Clark.

  31. Philadelphia Eagles- Antonio Johnson (S) Texas A&M- Youth to the back end of the Defense, good fit to the system.
