NFL


  • With the trade deadline looming less then 24 hours away, the Chicago Bears traded star linebacker Roquan Smith to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday. The Bears will receive in return linebacker A.J. Klein and a 2nd and 5th round pick.



  • Monday night football saw Joe Burrow being sacked 5 times, Nick Chubb rushing for 2 touchdowns and Cleveland's defense holding Cincinnati to just 229 total yards. The Browns rolled over the Bengals 32-13.



  • The Buffalo Bills will reportedly activate cornerback Tre’Davious White to their 53-player roster this week. It has been about 11 months since the starter tore a ligament in his left knee. He suffered the injury during a 31-6 win over New Orleans on Nov. 25, 2021. The 27-year-old has started for the Bills since they drafted him in the 1st round in 2017.





NBA


  • The Brooklyn Nets snap a 4 game losing streak by edging out the Indiana Pacers 116-109 on Monday night. Kevin Durant scored 34 points and passed Vince Carter for the 19th spot on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list. The Nets move to 2-5.




  • The Philadelphia 76er's will be stripped of their next two 2nd round draft picks. The NBA making the announcement on Monday siting "tampering violations". The decision came after the league did an investigation into the timing of Philadelphia's free-agency discussions with P.J. Tucker and Danuel House. However, no wrongdoing was found in James Harden's choice to turn down his $47-million option in favor of a 2 year, $68.6-million contract.



  • Toronto Raptors power forward/center, Pascal Siakam had 31 points and 12 rebounds while also setting a franchise record with his 30th game with 20 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and 5 or more assists. The Toronto Raptors routed the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night 139-109.





MLB


  • After being nominated 5 times, Los Angeles Dodgers 3rd baseman and designated hitter, Justin Turner has won the Roberto Clemente award. The award is given to the player who "best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions both on and off the field."



  • World Series game 3 was postponed on Monday night due to inclement weather. Game 3 will be played n Tuesday night and the rest of the games in the series will all be pushed back 1 day.
