Monday Moments You Might Have Missed


NFL


  • The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury just a single season after he signed an extension that would have taken him through 2027. They have also decided to part ways with Steve Keim, general manager that was currently out for health reasons, but will not return to the team.



  • Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has stated that he doesn't think he is done coaching, but needs some time to make a decision about whether or not he will return to the team for the 2023 season.

"I will take the next couple of days to really be able to reflect and have a lot of conversations that will dictate and determine the decision that's best for me and my family."



  • The Houston Texans have started the search for their new head coach. The team has requested permission to interview Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, as well as San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.





NBA


  • The Boston Celtics are holding the best record in the NBA and we have reached the half way point of the season. Jayson Tatum putting down 32 points and Jaylen Brown contributing 19 to lift the Celtics over the Chicago Bulls 107-99 on Monday night. The Celtics are sitting at 29-12 after 41 games.



  • Results are in from Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant MRI on his knee. He has suffered and MCL sprain and is expected to miss 4 weeks, but will be re-evaluated in 2 weeks.





NHL


  • Seattle Kraken beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 on Monday night making it their 5th straight win. Goalie Martin Jones stopped 21 shots for his 2nd shutout of the season, Vince Dunn and Eeli Tolvanen each contributed a goal and an assist.



  • Philadelphia Flyers goalie, Samuel Ersson, made 28 saves and pulled off his 1st career shutout in his 5th start of the NHL season. Joel Farabee had two points and the Flyers beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-0 on Monday night.





MLB


  • The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed on a 1 year deal with veteran 1st baseman Brandon Belt. The contract is worth $9.3 million and they are expected to finalize it on Tuesday.



  • The Los Angeles Angels and outfielder Brett Phillips have come to an agreement on a 1 year, $1.2-million contract.
