Monday Moments You Might Have Missed


  • Veteran wide receiver Sammy Watkins was released by the Green Bay Packers ahead of Monday nights game against the Los Angeles Rams. Watkins had 13 receptions for 206 yards and no touchdowns in his 1 season with the Packers. The 29-year-old has not caught a pass since Nov. 13, in a 31-28 overtime win against the Dallas Cowboys. He caught 3 passes for 47 yards in that game.

  • Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a shoulder sprain in Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears. It is uncertain if the 24-year-old will play in Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Nick Sirianni saying to Eliot Shorr-Parks on 94 WIP "WIP Morning Show":

"He sprained his shoulder. ... He is attacking his rehab. We'll see what happens this week, (It's) not something we deem long term.”

  • Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Cam Robinson will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn meniscus in the Jaguars' win over the Dallas Cowboys. The 27-year-old started all 14 games for the Jaguars this season and signed a 3 year contract extension in April.


  • Damian Lillard surpassed Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler to become the Portland Trail Blazers' new all-time leading scorer. The 32-year-old did so with a free throw in the 3rd quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.

  • Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers faced off against his former team, the Utah Jazz, for the 1st time since being traded over the summer. The 26-year-old scored 23 points in 23 minutes, Jarrett Allen contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds helping the Cavaliers roll over the Jazz 122-99.


  • San Jose Sharks pivot Tomas Hertl has been suspended for 2 games. The NHL Department of Player Safety making the announcement Monday as a result of him high-sticking Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm during Sunday's game. Hertl received a minor penalty on the play but did say after the game:

"I get frustrated, three times to the shoulder, I just tried to slash him on the stick. The stick flew a little high; it's a terrible penalty. I don't think I even had him close to the face, but it looks bad. A mistake by me - can't do that. You never try to hit a guy high, but it happens."
