The MLB 2023 regular season will begin on Thursday, March 30 with Opening Day. The long-awaited offseason for baseball fans is finally over. One of the things entering this season is will the Houston Astros repeat as World Series Champions or will someone else dethrone them this season?
They defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. There are other teams and storylines to watch for this season. Who is going to make the playoffs this season in each league?
National League
The division winners this season will be the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East, the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central, and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
As for the wild card teams, they will be the New York Mets, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the San Diego Padres. The Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers will just miss the postseason this year.
Once again Los Angeles will be the one seed, but Philadelphia will be the two seed, and Chicago will be the three seed. San Diego will be the fourth seed, New York will be the fifth seed, and St. Louis will be the sixth seed.
Postseason NL: Wild Card: (6) St. Louis over (3) Chicago and (5) New York over (4) San Diego. NLDS: (1) Los Angeles over (5) New York and (2) Philadelphia over (6) St. Louis.
NLCS: (1) Los Angeles over (2) Philadelphia.
American League
The American League in the MLB once again this season is going to be very top-heavy with some very bad teams in it. The division winners this year will be the Houston Astros of the AL West, the New York Yankees of the AL East, and the Chicago White Sox of the AL Central.
As for the wild card teams, they will be the Toronto Blue Jays, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Seattle Mariners. A couple of the teams that will just miss are the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians.
For the seeding situation, Houston will be the one seed, Chicago will be the two seed, and New York will be the three seed.
The wild card seedings will be Seattle four, Baltimore five, and Toronto six.
Postseason AL: Wild Card: (3) New York over (6) Toronto and (4) Seattle over (5) Baltimore.
ALDS: (4) Seattle over (1) Houston and (3) New York over (2) Chicago.
