Tuesday night on MLB Network the results of the BBWAA vote for the 2022 Baseball Hall of Fame class will be revealed Notable names like Manny Ramirez , Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Curt Schilling and Gary Sheffield are among the players on this year’s ballot. But it’s possible only one player Boston’s David Ortiz will get the call.

You need 75 percent of the vote to make it into baseball’s most hallowed building. To stay on the ballot you need to garner at least 5 percent. As long as you keep getting that nickel of recognition you can remain on the ballot for up to ten years.

From everything I’ve seen Ortiz has been well above the 75 percent threshold at one point he was at 84%. and it looks like there’s a real shot he’ll not only get in as a true DH but get in on his first try. There’s also a realistic possibility that he’ll fall just short with between 70-75 percent of the vote. I call this the SHANK Factor.

That means there is real drama heading into the selection show. Both Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens have been polling at, just above or just below the 75% needed to get in and both will fall off the ballot if they don’t go in. Also Curt Schilling should and will be waving bye bye to any chance of getting in. It may be Ortiz or Bust for the BBWAA. this doesnt mean their hall dreams are dashed
