Miguel Andujar wants to be traded

I don’t know what is funnier: the Yankee fans overrating Miguel Andujar, expecting Andujar to stay up the rest of the season, or Andujar requesting a trade that the Yankees have been trying to do for a while and can’t get anything decent for him.

It is reported that Miguel Andujar has told Aaron Boone that he no longer wants to be on the team and wants to be traded. He was optioned down to Triple-A to make room for Giancarlo Stanton returning from the IL.

WALLY PIPP

I believe that since 2019, the Yankees have been trying to trade Andujar. Yes, he had a good season in 2018 but his defense at third base was exposed and no doubt brought his value down. He lost his everyday job to Gio Urshela in 2019 when he was injured at the beginning of the season. Since then, Andujar was traveling back and forth when injuries happened. In my opinion, they had him start playing in the outfield to try to bring his value up because his defense at third wasn’t helping.

THE FRAZIER EFFECT

I don’t blame him for wanting to be traded. A person has no business being a professional in the sport if they don’t want to play in the majors every day. The problem is, he hasn’t made a case to stay with the team for the season. He isn’t guaranteed to play every day with the new team either. This is similar to what happened with Clint Frazier. The Yankees really tried to trade him every chance they could and no one wanted him. His value couldn’t get a decent offer. Like Andujar, Frazier’s defense was exposed and brought his value down. The Yankees released Frazier and he signed with the Cubs where he still isn’t playing every day.

It will be interesting to see what the Yankees can get in return and what team is willing to take him. I expect him to be traded within this month.

Source confirms: Miguel Andújar has requested a trade from the Yankees. Not the first time he has asked out because of his lack of a consistent opportunity. First: @hgomez27 — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) June 4, 2022

P.S.: Andujar is not better than Joey Gallo.
