Michinoku Pro will present a special event on September 17 at Yahaba Townspeople General Gymnasium in Yahaba Town, Iwate (6:00 PM start time). Existing since 1993, Michinoku Pro was created with Iwate in mind, so many events in Iwate feature matches that are not seen anywhere else in the country.
At this Michinoku Pro event, Manjimaru & Ken45 will defend the Tohoku Tag Team Championship against Yapperman No. 1 & No. 2. The Tohoku Tag Team Championship has the distinction of having legends a part of its legacy such as The Great Sasuke, Jinsei Shinzaki, Último Dragón, Kensuke Sasaki, and Dick Togo.
This will be Manjimaru & Ken45’s first defense since winning the Tohoku Tag Team Championship last month, and although this is their first time holding the championship together, they have both had a previous reign as Tohoku Tag Team Champion. Yapperman No. 1 & No. 2 is one of the greatest teams that is part of the lineage of the championship, with their second of two reigns being the second-longest reign in the history of the Tohoku Tag Team Championship.
In other accomplishments, Majimaru’s first reign as Tohoku Tag Team Champion is the fifth longest in the history of the championship, and he is the second longest reigning Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion in history. Along with having a previous reign as Tohoku Tag Team Champion, Ken45 has also held the UWA World Tag Team Championship during that 2018-2019 reign, which has a unique history with its roots older than Michinoku Pro itself. The championship was established in 1982 in the Universal Wrestling Association, which was based in Mexico. It was unified with the Tohoku Tag Team Championship at the time,
Meanwhile, Yapperman No. 1 & No. 2 are the longest-reigning UWA World Tag Team Champions in history and have held the championship more times than any other team. Also, they were Triple Crown Champions earlier this year.
