The wrestlers of Michinoku Pro will be in action on May 4 at Akita City Selion Plaza in Akita, as a part of Golden Week series 2022.
Match 1: Manabu Murakami vs. Rasse
One day after seeing each other in a “Michinoku 3Way” match in Fukushima City, Manabu Murakami and Rasse will compete one on one in a singles match. Will one of them be entering the match with momentum from their previous days’ victory?
Match 2: The Great Sasuke vs. GAINA vs. Ken45 in a “Michinoku 3Way” Match
With three Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion reigns, the J-Crown (a unification of eight different titles from eight different companies worldwide), and the longest NWA World Middleweight Champion reign in history on his resume, The Great Sasuke has the most impressive championship background of the three competitors in this match.
However, although GAINA has been focusing on the tag team division as a Triple Crown Tag Champion, he has seen singles success in his career as well, as Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion in 2006 and 2007. In fact, the man who GAINA defeated for the championship was The Great Sasuke.
Although Ken45 hasn’t seen the same level of singles championship success as his opponents in this match, he cannot be underestimated, due to his experience, versatility, and adaptability. Ken45 has been wrestling for 19 years and has experience wrestling in promotions such the strong-style focused NJPW and hardcore-style focused BJW.
Match 3: MUSASHI & Go vs. Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei
Although MUSASHI stands at the top of the Michinoku Pro mountain as Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion in his second reign, he is accomplished as a tag team wrestler as well, a Tohoku Tag Team Champion reign on his resume. His tag team partner, Go, has made appearances in Michinoku Pro in the past, but he has wrestled most often in Secret Base, where he has been co-holder of the Captain Of The Secret Base Tag Team Championship, and his reign was the second-longest reign in the history of that championship.
Many teams in Michinoku Pro’s history have held the Tohoku Tag Team Championship, and Brahman Shu/Brahman Kei is one of the best of those teams. They hold the record for the team with the most reigns as champions, with an outstanding 4 reigns under their belts. They also held the UWA World Tag Team Championship on two occasions.
Match 4: Taro Nohashi vs. Rui Hyugaji
This is a match that Michinoku Pro fans have been wanting to see for a long time. Singles matches between the two men are rare, and they are both favorites of the fans. Taro Nohashi defeated Rui Hyugaji in 2018 to begin his reign as Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Champion, and Hyugaji’s third reign is the longest in history. This will be one of the best matches at this event.
Match 5: Ayumu Gunji & Koji Kawamura vs. Yapperman No. 1 & No. 2
The war between New Generation and the established wrestlers continues with this match, as Ayumu Gunji and Koji Kawamura go against one of the most decorated tag teams in Michinoku Pro. Yapperman No. 1 & No 2 are the longest-reigning UWA World Tag Team Champions in history and have held the championship a record five times. They also have held the Tohoku Tag Team Championship on two occasions, with their second reign being the second-longest reign in the championship’s history.
Ayumu Gunji is an accomplished tag team wrestler himself, a two-time former Tohoku Tag Team Champion and former UWA World Tag Team Champion. A win for him and his fellow New Generation member Kawamura Koji over one of Michinoku Pro’s top teams would be a boost for the faction in their pursuit of tag team gold.
