Michinoku Pro 3/6/22 Tokushima City Event! Two Top Titles on the Line!

On March 6 at Tokushima Tokugin Tomony Arena (Tokushima City Gymnasium), Michinoku Pro makes its return to Tokushima City, with two of the company’s top titles on the line.

Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Championship

In the main event, MUSASHI will defend the Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Championship against Koji Kawamura. Both men are members of a group of young wrestlers collectively considering themselves to be the new generation of Michinoku Pro. MUSASHI is in his second reign, and fellow member or not, Kawamura wants to add a championship reign to his resume as well.

There is much history behind The Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Championship. Dick Togo become the first champion in August 2002, and The Great Sasuke, TAKA Michinoku, and the longest-reigning Champion (553 days) Rui Hyugaji are other names that are a part of its legacy.

Also, despite its name, the value of the Tohoku Junior Heavyweight Championship has extended beyond the Tohoku region. MUSASHI successfully defended it against former AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Champion Kaz Hayashi at a GLEAT event in Tokyo last year.

Tohoku Tag Team Championship

The Great Sasuke & Jinsei Shinzaki will defend the Tohoku Tag Team Championship against GAINA & Taro Nohashi. This is Sasuke’s fourth reign and Shinzaki is in his record fifth reign, and with this being their first defense during this current reign, they plan on it being the first successful defense of many. Meanwhile, GAINA & Nohashi are the current UWA World Tag Team Champions, and Sasuke/Shinzak is the team they defeated for that championship. They intend on defeating them again, this time for the Tohoku Tag Team Championship.

The Tohoku Tag Team Championship has a lot of legitimacy in the industry, with many great teams being a part of its lineage, including Yapper Man 1 & Yapper Man 2, and Dick Togo and current champion The Great Sasuke.
