The Los Angeles Rams were Super Bowl LVI Champions last season against the Cincinnati Bengals. No team has repeated since 2003 and 2004 with the New England Patriots. Los Angeles finished 12-5 a season ago and was the fourth seed in the NFC and first in the NFC West. The Rams won the Super Bowl in their own stadium at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Sean McVay is the head coach of this football team and he is not going anywhere anytime soon. They have one of the most talented rosters in all of football. Los Angeles will be one of the betting favorites to win Super Bowl LVII this season though. The Rams keep replacing coaches and coordinators year in and year out, but all they do is keep winning.
What could the Los Angeles Rams roster look like this season?
Quarterbacks
Matthew Stafford will be the starting quarterback. He won the Super Bowl in his first season after he was traded away from the Detroit Lions. Liam Coen will be the new offensive coordinator after Kevin O’Connell took the Minnesota Vikings head coaching job. Stafford is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL and is a betting favorite for MVP. The backup quarterback will be John Wolford.
Running Backs
Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr. will be the primary running backs. Akers came back for the playoffs last season and was a beast. He does have some fumble issues. Rookie Kyren Williams and Jake Funk will be the other running backs on this roster.
Wide Receivers
Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson II, and Van Jefferson will be the starting wide receivers on this football team. This is one of the most talented trios in all of football. Kupp led the league in receiving yards last season. Robinson II played with the Chicago Bears last season and is also very talented and will benefit with Matthew Stafford as his quarterback. Jefferson is a talented wide receiver.
They did not bring back Odell Beckham Jr., who tore his ACL in the Super Bowl. Ben Skowronek will be the fourth wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams.
Tight Ends
Tyler Higbee will be the starting tight end. He was an unsung hero for this football team last season. Kendall Blanton and Brycen Hopkins will be the other two tight ends on this roster.
Offensive Line
Left tackle Andrew Whitworth retired and also won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Joe Noteboom will be the starting left tackle. David Edwards will be the starting left guard, Brian Allen will be the starting center, rookie Logan Bruss will be the starting right guard, and Rob Havenstein will be the starting right tackle. Bobby Evans and rookie A.J. Arcuri are two other offensive lineman to keep an eye on during training camp.
Defensive Line
The Los Angeles Rams play a 3-4 defensive scheme under defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. A’Shawn Robinson, Greg Gaines, and Aaron Donald will be the starting defensive line. Donald is the best defensive player in the NFL. Aaron Donald gets double-teamed and triple-teamed all the time. He was talking about retirement from the game of football after the season ended, but he is here to stay for a while.
Michael Hoecht will be another player to watch for on this defensive line this season.
Linebackers
Justin Hollins and Leonard Floyd will be the starting outside linebackers. Bobby Wagner and Ernest Jones will be the starting inside linebackers. Von Miller didn’t re-sign with the Rams after being traded from the Denver Broncos. He took a big six-year $120 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.
Bobby Wagner played with the Seattle Seahawks last season. Terrell Lewis and Christian Rozeboom will be some of the linebackers to watch for in training camp also.
Secondary
Jalen Ramsey and David Long Jr. will be the starting cornerbacks. Troy Hill will be the nickelback. Nick Scott and Jordan Fuller will be the starting safeties. They were so thin at safety with injuries last season that they had to get Eric Weddle out of retirement. He is good now with his Super Bowl ring and won’t come back to play in the NFL ever again.
Taylor Rapp will be another safety to watch for in Los Angeles. He is a very underrated football player with very good instincts. Rookie Derion Kendrick has a chance to crack this Los Angeles Rams roster at the cornerback position.
Special Teams
Matt Gay will be the kicker, Riley Dixon will be the punter, and Matthew Orzech will be the long snapper.
