Kaplan- Jacksonville options with the #1 Pick

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the number one pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. They will be drafting number one overall for the second consecutive season. In order that Jacksonville doesn’t land in this spot again for a while, they need to draft well and win games.

They just recently hired Doug Pederson as their next head coach, despite keeping Trent Baalke as their general manager. What players should he consider targeting with the number one overall pick?

Evan Neal, OT, Alabama

Evan Neal is the name that makes the most sense for the Jacksonville Jaguars to select number one overall come April. He measures in at 6’6” and 360 lbs. Neal moved from right tackle to left tackle in college and this was a great move on his part.

He can play both tackles and is versatile, but quarterback Trevor Lawrence needs a blindside tackle. Lawrence is entering his second season and he needs to take a big jump.

Jacksonville also has talent in the backfield with James Robinson. Evan Neal is a very good run blocker as well and he can open holes for the running game. Neal could be their left tackle for the next decade.

Aidan Hutchinson, DE, Michigan

Aidan Hutchinson is going to go near the top of the 2022 NFL Draft. If Jacksonville wants to compete with teams like the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts, they are going to have to get a gem player on the defensive side of the football.

Hutchinson has a special motor about him and he never takes plays off. He is 6’5” and weighs 270 lbs. Aidan Hutchinson recorded 62 tackles, 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three pass deflections.

He is going to be a player that gets your defense off the field and your offense the ball back. Hutchinson is going to be a stud in the NFL for the next decade,

Ikem Ekwonu, OL, North Carolina State

Ikem Ekwonu played both left tackle and left guard at North Carolina State. He is 6’4” and weighs 320 lbs.

Ekwonu was a three-year starter in college and his experience will translate well on the offensive line in the NFL. He was compared a lot to Alijah-Vera Tucker from USC last year.

Ikem Ekwonu has all of the tools to be a pro bowler in the NFL from day one at that position. This is a very deep offensive line class and Ekwonu’s name could be mentioned as either the number one overall pick or at the very high end of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The option that the Jacksonville Jaguars should go with number one overall is Evan Neal, OT, Alabama.
