It's Time For the Green Bay Packers To Shut Down Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers 2022 NFL regular season has already been bad and it has taken a turn for the worst. In a 40-33 road loss on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an oblique injury in the second half and he did not return.

Rodgers was already dealing with a thumb injury he suffered back in Week 5 against the New York Giants in London, but it might be time to shut down Aaron Rodgers for the season. Green Bay won't be sniffing the playoffs this season and Rodgers isn't a young lad anymore. It is also time for them to see what they have in Jordan Love over the last few weeks to see if he is the future or if they can trade him to a quarterback-needy team.

Some people believe that this could be the last game ever for Aaron Rodgers, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers completed 11-of-16 passes for 140 yards passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

He threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb in the first quarter and a 23-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones in the second quarter.

As for Jordan Love, he threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Christian Watson in the fourth quarter. This wasn't just a short pass on a screen and he took it to distance. Love actually made a very good throw from 15 yards out and Watson was hit in stride for the rest to take it to distance. Love's throws were so much better than they have been in the past.

This wasn't the same old Jordan Love and it wasn't garbage time either he did this. The game was still in the balance when he made these throws and helped the Green Bay Packers score 10 fourth-quarter points and maybe this is a positive sign for him moving forward.

He completed 6-of-9 passes for 113 yards passing and one touchdown. In case you don't believe what he did on the touchdown throw to Christian Watson, see for yourself below:

Two of his incompletions in the fourth quarter came on dropped passes by the receivers. Head coach Matt LaFleur has to be happy with the way he performed and came over to talk to him after that touchdown pass. He was a first-round, 26th overall pick out of Utah State in the 2020 NFL Draft.

This is the perfect time for the Green Bay Packers to shut down quarterback Aaron Rodgers and play quarterback Jordan Love. Even if Rodgers can play moving forward, they should just tell him to sit out no matter how minor or large, and see what they have with Love. That would be the smart thing to do at this point and it would be in the best interest of this franchise.

The Green Bay Packers (4-8) next football game will be on the road against the Chicago Bears (3-9) on Sunday 12/4.

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) next football game will be at home against the Tennessee Titans (7-4) on Sunday 12/4.
