Humpday Happenings You Might Have Missed


NFL


  • The Chicago Bears have agreed to trade defensive end Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles in return for a 4th-round pick. The 32-year-old pass-rusher has a salary of $12.8 million this season with 2 years remaining of that contract after 2022. Chicago will pick up most of Quinn's remaining salary.



  • The Houston Texans are reportedly ready and willing to trade wide receiver Brandon Cooks before the November 1st trade deadline. The team is said to be looking for draft capital in return and at this point there are several teams that have shown interest.



  • Saints head coach Dennis Allen announced yesterday that Andy Dalton will be the starter for Sunday’s game against the Raiders despite Jameis Winston being healthy and able to play. Allen did state and make it clear that Winston was cleared but he had made the decision for Dalton to start because he believes that is what is best for the offense.





NBA


  • The Los Angeles Lakers' are off to a calamitous start, which continued Wednesday as the team dropped to 0-4 after a 110-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets. This is the first time a team led by LeBron James has not won at least 1 of its 1st 4 games since his rookie season in 2003-04. The last time the Lakers had a 0-4 start was 2015-2016.



  • Memphis Grizzlies wing Ziaire Williams is expected to miss another 4-to-6 weeks, he is continuing to suffer right knee soreness from patellar tendinitis. Williams has been dealing with knee issues since the preseason and has not made a regular-season appearance.



  • The NBA has fined Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri $35,000 for going over to the scorer's table and reportedly making inappropriate remarks toward a game official. The incident took place at some point during the teams 112-109 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday.
