San Francisco 49er's quarterback Brock Purdy will undergo surgery on his torn UCL on February 22nd. Purdy is expected to be able to return to training camp in late July.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin has been oulled from the rest of NFL Networks Superbowl coverage and was asked to change hotels after an apparent "encounter" with a women. NFL Network spokesman Alex Riethmiller saying in a statement:
“Michael Irvin will not be part of NFL Network’s Super Bowl LVII week coverage.”
Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday that Sam Howell is their starting quarterback headed into off season workouts. Rivera saying on the AP Pro Football podcast:
“Sam Howell is going to start out as QB1. The key to that, though, is he’s going to have to earn it to keep, that’s for darn sure.”

I doubt that anyone has missed it, but while most people were sleeping the Brooklyn Nets were finishing off a Blockbuster trade that sent Kevin Durant and T.J. Warren to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns in return gave up Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, and unprotected 1st-round picks in 2023, 2025, 2027, and 2029, and a 2028 pick swap.
The Los Angeles Lakers are finishing up a trade that will bring them Minnesota Timberwolves guard D'Angelo Russell and the Utah Jazz's Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt in a deal involving Russell Westbrook, Mike Conley, and picks.
The Raptors are picking up center Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs, and in return sending back Khem Birch, a protected 2024 1st-round draft pick, and 2 future 2nd-round picks.
