Head Coaches On Hot Seat For 2023

The Carolina Panthers found their new head coach in Frank Reich in the NFL. It appears as if the Houston Texans are leaning towards hiring San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans as their next head coach. That means the Indianapolis Colts, the Denver Broncos, and the Arizona Cardinals will still need to find their next head coach.

Speaking of head coaches, there is always a list heading into every offseason who will be on the hot seat heading into the 2023 NFL season. Who are the head coaches that are on the hot seat heading into the next NFL season?

Brandon Staley, Los Angeles Chargers

Brandon Staley of the Los Angeles Chargers is the first head coach that comes to mind on this list. A lot of people thought he was going to be fired after blowing a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card Round. Staley will be entering his third season with this team as a defensive-minded head coach, who hasn't had a great defense in his first two seasons with this football team.

He has one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Justin Herbert. They can be wasting his prime years away. Brandon Staley needs to get it right next season.

Sean McDermott, Buffalo Bills

Even with the Buffalo Bills winning the AFC East Title the past three seasons under head coach Sean McDermott, they have yet to appear in a Super Bowl in his coaching tenure. It appears as if their attention to detail isn't great and it appears as if they should have never let Brian Daboll out of the building. Quarterback Josh Allen is an amazing talent, but he regressed in ways this season.

If they can't get to the Super Bowl next season, McDermott deserves to be fired and they need an offensive-minded head coach in the building as their head coach. They have too much talent to not be playing in the AFC Championship year after year and Ken Dorsey needs to be better as the offensive coordinator as well.

Robert Saleh, New York Jets

Robert Saleh is going to be entering his third season with the New York Jets. His team was so much improved this season because his defense was. New York missed the playoffs once again, but next season is a make the postseason or get fired moment for him. The Jets will probably be moving on from quarterback Zach Wilson.

They got rid of Mike LaFleur as offensive coordinator and hired Nathaniel Hackett for the position. Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, or Mike White will be their options potentially next season at the quarterback position. Any of those five will help Robert Saleh's cause of not getting fired with the elite defense he built his past season for the New York Jets.

Ron Rivera, Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders had a very good season but they finished in fourth place in the NFC East because of how elite the division was this year. Don't expect that to be the case next year. Ron Rivera is a great head coach but will be in his fourth season with the franchise.

They have talent on offense and defense, but they need to get the offensive coordinator right after firing Scott Turner and also get the quarterback right. Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke may not be back next season. Do they go with Sam Howell or someone else at the quarterback position? Stay tuned.
