G2 Gallant Bloom Best Bets

Introduction

Belmont's Fall meets at Aqueduct raceway look to close out their final day of racing for week two before their largest racing weekend comes next Saturday, and the G2 Gallant Bloom closes out the card. The race for fillies and mares three years old and up will have a post time of 5:18 with Wesley Wards Kimari leading the field. But the Honorable Miss Handicap Winner will have to face off against the second-place finisher in the Prioress Stakes Lady Rocket and a major card looking to take a victory in the Gallant Bloom. So here's a look at your 2022 Gallant Bloom Stakes presented by Emmitt Davis

Lady Rocket

Brad H cox's Lady Rocket looks to capture her first win following her sixth-place finish in the Grade 1 Ballerina Handicap. The five-year-old has had a great season, with her most recent victory in the G3 Chicago Stakes at Churchill downs. Lady Rocket was one of my top choices for the Ballerina Handicap for placing and showing, but she fell short in the Ballerina Handicap where Chad Browns Goodnight Olive took the victory. However, I think the Gallant Bloom is a good race for Brad Cox's trainee and would be a strong race for this mare to win.

Remain Anonymous

Manuel Franco will hop on the back of Remain Anonymous, looking for the first major stakes race win of her lifetime. The five-year-old has had a strong summer winning her last two outings, a Claiming at Churchill Downs and then a win in the Dr. Teresa Garofalo Memorial Stakes at Parx Casino. One thing Id take a look at with this runner is her most recent workouts. She last ran four furlongs at Belmont Park in 48.23, slower than her previous workout, where she ran four furlongs in 47.20. I think the field is small for her first graded stakes, so it will be good for her to make a run, but I don't think this mare will be able to capture a victory in the Gallant Bloom.

Sterling Silver

The only filly in the field, Sterling Silver looks to get her first win since her most recent second place finish in the Priorres Stakes. The Trevor McCarthy trainee entered the Priorres at 20-1 odds and was hailed one of the longshots for the race. Like many bettors, I shied away from betting on Sterling Silver but judging her incredible finish in the Priorries. However, I think she has already proved that she can race against some good runners and win. Therefore, I have the Bouwerie Stakes winner as one of my top picks for the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom.

Cheetara

Crestwood Stakes winner Cheetara looks to have a stronger outing following her seventh place finish in the ungraded Seeking the Pearl Stakes at Colonial Downs. The Ignacio Correas IV trainee will be one of the longshots in this small-stakes race which could be suitable for this five-year-old. Cheetara has had some excellent workout times as she went four furlongs in 46 seconds but has slowed down during her last workout heading into the Gallant Bloom, going four furlongs in 48.40. However, I think that the field will allow her to run well, but I don't see a win coming from this five-year-old.

Kamari

Wesley Ward's Honorable Miss Handicap winner Kimari looks to keep the win streak alive as she looks to capture her third win of the season. The 2021 Grade 1 Madison Stakes winner has been running well recently, winning the Honorable Miss Handicap at Saratoga Racecourse with a 107 Bryer Speed Figure. Coming into the Gallant Bloom, she had a most recent workout going five furlongs in 1.01.20, which is good and an improvement from her last four previous exercises. Kimari will most likely enter as the favorite when the NYRA makes odds for this race which is why I will have her in all of my bets.
