Buffalo Bills Training Camp Preview

The Buffalo Bills finished with an 11-6 record in the AFC East last season and third overall in the conference. Buffalo is the betting favorite to win Super Bowl LVII this season. The Bills have lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs the last two seasons. Buffalo lost in the AFC Divisional Round to Kansas City 42-36. Josh Allen was out of this world in the playoffs and is also a betting favorite MVP.

This is a Super Bowl or bust season for them. The AFC conference is a total gauntlet, but they will also look to win the AFC East for the third consecutive season. The Miami Dolphins could be better, the New England Patriots will regress, and the New York Jets could be better.

General manager Brandon Beane will mean business this season. He lost his assistant general manager Joe Schoen to the New York Giants and also former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to be the new head coach of the New York Giants. What’s in store for the Buffalo Bills this season though?

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen will be the starting quarterback. Some people believe that is he going to be the best quarterback in the NFL this season after his postseason success despite not winning the Super Bowl. Allen is going to be a headache to deal with week in and week out. His backup quarterback is going Case Keenum. The new offensive coordinator will be Ken Dorsey after being promoted from quarterbacks coach and has developed Josh Allen.

Running Backs

Devin Singletary will be the starting running back. They will need to run the football some more this season to take some pressure off of Josh Allen. Rookie running back James Cook will be the second running back and Zack Moss will be the third running back. Taiwan Jones will be the fourth running back on this roster and Reggie Gilliam will be the starting fullback.

Wide Receivers

Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis will be the starting wide receivers. Diggs is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and Davis had a breakout performance in the postseason with his over 200 yards and four touchdowns game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jamison Crowder will be the slot wide receiver. Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley is not back on the roster. Jake Kumerow, rookie Khalil Shakir, and Isaiah McKenzie will be the other wide receivers on this Buffalo Bills roster though.

Tight Ends

Dawson Knox will be the starting tight end for Buffalo. He is one of the most underrated tight ends in the NFL. O.J. Howard and Tommy Sweeney will be the other tight ends on this roster.

Offensive Line

This unit was not as good as people thought it was last season. The Buffalo Bills upgraded it in the offseason. Dion Dawkins will be the starting left tackle, Rodger Saffold will be the starting left guard, Mitch Morse will be the starting center, Ryan Bates will be the starting right guard, and Spencer Brown will be the starting right tackle.

Defensive Line

The Buffalo Bills play a 4-3 defensive scheme under defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Buffalo had the number one ranked defense a season ago. Greg Rousseau, Ed Oliver, Daquan Jones, and Von Miller will be the starters on the defensive line. Miller was signed to a massive six-year deal worth $120 million in the offseason. He played with the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams (Super Bowl LVI Champion) last season.

Jordan Phillips and A.J. Epenesa will be some of the key backups on this defensive line.

Linebackers

Matt Milano, Tremaine Edwards, and rookie Terrel Bernard will be the starting linebackers. They are very thin at this position for the Buffalo Bills. Edwards is a tackling machine. Tyrel Dodson is one of the linebackers to keep an eye on during training camp though for this football team.

Secondary

Rookie cornerback Kaiir Elam and Tre’Davious White will be the starting cornerbacks. Elam was selected 23rd overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida. White is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and he missed all of last season with an injury. Taron Johnson is the nickelback.

Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer are the safeties. This is one of the best safety tandems in the NFL. Cornerback Dane Jackson and rookie Christian Benford will be players to keep an eye on during training camp and also Jaquan Johnson at the safety position though.

Special Teams

Tyler Bass will be the starting kicker, rookie Matt Araiza will be the punter, and Reid Ferguson will be the long snapper also.
