In shocking news, it has been reported that former Boston Bruins winger Jimmy Hayes has passed away at just 31-years-of-age. The cause of death is not yet known.
Drafted 60th overall out of Boston College, where he helped the Eagles win an NCCA Division 1 Championship, Hayes played 334 NHL games between the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, and the New Jersey Devils. He last skated in the NHL during the 2017-18 season for the New Jersey Devils, splitting time with the AHL’s Binghamton Devils.
He signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization prior to the 2018-19 season, but remained with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the entire year.

Since his retirement from hockey, Jimmy Hayes had started a successful hockey podcast, “Missin Curfew” alongside former NHL players Shane O’Brien and Scottie Upshall. The trio had just celebrated its one-year anniversary on August 19th.
Born and raised just outside of Boston in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Jimmy is the older brother of Philadelphia Flyers center, Kevin Hayes, and is cousins with former NHLers Tom Fitzgerald and Keith Tkachuk, as well as Tkachuck’s sons Brady and Matthew. He leaves behind his wife Kristen and their two young boys.
