Breaking: Carolina Panthers trade Bridgewater to Denver Broncos

The Carolina Panthers have traded Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Denver Broncos for the 191st pick overall.

The #Panthers get the 191st overall pick in this year's draft in exchange for QB Teddy Bridgewater, per source, as well as cap flexibility in 2021 and 2022. The #Broncos get a quarterback their new GM, George Paton, knows well from Minnesota. — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) April 28, 2021

The now 28-year-old, Bridgewater, started 15 games for Carolina during the 2020-21 season, passing for 3,733 yards. He threw for 15 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and had a career-high total quarterback rating (QBR) of 64.2.

The trade reunites Broncos GM George Paton with the former Viking signal-caller and brings competition to Denver’s Drew Lock for the starting position.  The Panthers have retained some of Bridgewater’s salary according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
