Brayan Bello, Rafael Devers Right Red Sox Ship

This is becoming a habit. Brayan Bello pitched into the seventh inning again last night. that's a good habit to form. Raffy Devers once again carried the Sox at the plate. A not so good habit.

The Red Sox put together four hits last night. While striking out SEVENTEEN times, yes this was a nine inning game. My God. but the final score is what matters isn't it. No, I'm asking, isn't it ? Alex Cora thought so as he told reporters after the game

“It wasn't great for the offensive department over there, but they've been carrying this team for a while,” Cora said. “One swing, good pitching and get the W.”

Bello went 6 ⅔ scattering six hits, struck out five and walked just one batter on the evening. Get that man a Deep Dish. ( It’s not Pizza, but it's pretty good ) Friday night was the third straight outing and fourth in his past six trips to the mound he’s done so. This kid just keeps getting better. On May first Bello’s ERA stood at 6.57. Today it sits at 3.27. That's work, people. He is 2-1 in the month of June with a 2.60 ERA.

Boston did all its scoring in the third and fourth inning. In the third . Rookie David Hamilton worked himself a six pitch walk and promptly stole second. ( It's what he does) Hamilton has stolen 27 bases this season for Wooster and swiped 70 last year for The Sea Dogs. then almost as quickly he scored on an errant pick off play. Yes from second ( Speed Kills.) Then in the fourth Devers came to the plate with Masataka Yoshida on first. The loveable menace took White Sox starter Lucas Giolito DEEP into the night. A 434 foot rocket into the right field bleachers to give the sox a 3-1 lead. His league leading 59th and 60th RBI. And that's where the Sox pen kept it. Nick Pivetta got the last out of the seventh, Chris Martin got into a jam with runners on first and third but pitched his way out of it taking care of the eighth. and Kenley Jansen had a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his 16th save of the season.

A wins a win. Especially on a road trip. The sox are still mired in last place in the AL East, but are just a game back of the Blue Jays and one and a half behind the third place Yankees after both lost yesterday. And are just a game and a half out of the final wildcard spot. After last night's loss the White Sox are 3-7 in their last 10. Let's make some hay Boston. Let's get the road d Dubs you desperately need to stay in this thing.
