Astros Sweep Yankees. Both Teams Make History

For thirteen straight seasons the New York Yankees failed to make the World Series. Feels good to read that doesn't it ? It felt good to type it. Yes my friends since 2009 the last time they won a World Series the Bronx Bombers wont be going back to try and rectify that fact. Even though they have gone to the ALCS Five Times . Five times ? Yes FIVE TIMES. ( I typed that with my Mrs. Bueller and Ed Rooney voices ) . According to ESPN, that's a record.

The Astros rode timely hitting from Alex Bregman - Jeremy Pena and Yordan Alverez with a bit of help from untimely fielding from Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torrez in the seventh to a 6 -5 win last night in the Boogie Down Bronx. It’s their fourth World Series in five years. But wait there’s more

The Astros became just the third team since the addition of the Wild Card Round to win its first seven post season games in any given year. The Rockies did it in 07 and the Royals matched that feat in 2014.

Yesterday I had a feeling that a sweep was in the air and after the Yankees went up 3-0 I still had that feeling. Jeremy Pena gave me reason to smile in the top of the third. With Maldonado and Altuve already on the rookie walked to the plate undaunted by the situation and drilled a Nestor Cortez cutter 408 feet into the seats in left field. Tie Game ! The Stros were not finished as Alverez doubled to deep right and scored on Gurriel single, 4-3 Astros. Bader singled and was driven in by Rizzo in the next frame to tie it up again at four a piece.. Bader then outdid himself going yard in the bottom of the sixth to give the Yanks a glimpse of a game 5 but it was not to be.

With one out in the 6th , Altuve reached on an infield single and then the wheels came off. Pena grounded into what should have been a perfect double play but Torres botched the flip to Cabrera and everyone was safe. Alvarez singled scoring Altuve and before you knew it Bregman was getting the game winning RBI scoring Pena. GAME OVER. Abreu - Montero and Pressley took the last nine outs from the yanks.

The Astros and the Phillies will face off in Game One of the World Series on Friday in Houston , now if you'll excuse me i have to be put back into traction.
