American & National League Jackie Robinson Rookies Of The Year

MLB’s top two newcomers have been named and it was both surprising and not surprising. Isn't that great ? I love the ROTY. it's the only award in baseball that you can only win once. MVP - Cy Young - Silver Sluggers - Gold Gloves: Line them up. Build a wing to the house if need be. There are no second chances. Only Once can you be The Jackie Robinson Rookie Of The Year.

AL WINNER

Winner: Julio Rodriguez (Seattle Mariners)

Final Vote: Rodriguez 148 (29 first place votes); Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles 68 (1); Steven Kwan, Cleveland Guardians 44; Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City Royals 7; Jeremy Pena, Houston Astros 2; George Kirby, Mariners 1

Juilo Rodriguez was the consensus pick at the beginning of the 2022 season but he disnt let the pressure get to him. Rodríguez took home 29 of the 30 first-place votes in the AL . Adley Rutschman of the Orioles received the other first-place vote and finished second to the Seattle Phenom.

As I said, it was no surprise. Rodríguez led all rookies in home runs (28) . He was second among rookies in RBIs (75), runs scored (84) and stolen bases (25), while finishing third in hits (145). He was the first rookie since Mike Trout in 2012 to hit at least 25 HR and steal 25 bases and have an OPS above .800 . Rodríguez is the first Dominican-born ballplayer to win since Neftali Feliz in 2010. Well done.

NL Winner

Winner: Michael Harris II, CF, Atlanta Braves

Final Vote: Harris 134 (22 first-place votes); Spencer Strider, Atlanta Braves 103 (8); Brendan Donovan, Cardinals 22; Jake McCarthy, Arizona Diamondbacks 4; Alexis Diaz, Cincinnati Reds 3; Nick Lodolo, Reds 2; Oneil Cruz, Pittsburgh Pirates 2.

Michael Harris take a bow young man or a victory lap your choice. The Georgia native did his hometown team and their fans proud. At the ripe old age of 21 the home grown Harris batted .297 and belted 19 home runs and 64 RBI. pretty impressive numbers considering the Braves kept him down to extend their rights to him for almost two months. He didn't make his debut on a big league field until May 28th. If he had broke camp his battle with teammate Spencer Strider may not have been as close.

Just Once people. Just one chance to go down in the history books as the best of them all and these two didn't disappoint. As always you can follow/give me grief on Twitter @Tmurph207
