Nestor Cortes pitched in the first game of the doubleheader. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out seven. Matt Carpenter hit his third home run of the year. Gleyber Torres went 2-for-4 with a home run. Aaron Judge went 2-for-4 with a home run. Aaron Hicks went 3-for-4. DJ LeMahieu hit his fourth home run of the year. After a one-hour and 28-minute delay before the start of the 9th inning, the Yanks won 6-1.

Jameson Taillon took a perfect game into the 8th inning, gave up one run, and struck out five. Isiah Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-3 with a walk. Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4. Clay Holmes pitched the 9th and struggled a bit but got the save. The Yanks won 2-1.
The Tigers come into town for the weekend. Gerrit Cole, Luis Severino, and Jordan Montgomery are scheduled to pitch. It is expected that Giancarlo Stanton returns from the IL.
