Gerrit Cole pitched six scoreless innings and struck out seven against the Rays. Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3. Giancarlo Stanton went 0-for-2 with two walks. The Yanks won 2-0.
Nestor Cortes pitched 5.1 innings, struck out four, and gave up one run. Aaron Judge hit his 25th home run of the year. Kyle Higashioka hit his 3rd home run of the year. The Yankees won 4-3.

Luis Severino was placed on the COVID-IL before the game. Clarke Schmidt pitched three scoreless innings and struck out five. The bullpen of Ryan Weber, Ron Marinaccio, and Michael King combined for one earned run. Rizzo hit the walk-off homer. The Yankees won 2-1.
The Yanks head to Toronto to face the Jays. Luis Severino was activated from the COVID-IL after the game last night. Jordan Montgomery, Jameson Taillon, and Gerrit Cole are scheduled to pitch.
BOSTON RED SOX (34-30)
Nick Pivetta pitched eight innings, struck out three, and gave up one run against the A’s. J.D. Martinez hit his 8th home run of the year. Rafael Devers hit his 15th of the year. The Red Sox won 6-1.
Josh Winckowski pitched five scoreless innings and struck out three. Devers went 1-for-3 with two walks and a home run. Alex Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a home run. The Sox won 10-1.

Rich Hill pitched 5.2 innings, struck out four, and gave up four runs; three earned. Jarren Duran went 2-for-3. Martinez went 3-for-5. Jackie Bradley Jr went 2-for-4. The Sox lost 4-3.
The first-place Cardinals are in Fenway over the weekend. Michael Wacha, Kutter Crawford, and Nick Pivetta are scheduled to pitch.
TAMPA BAY RAYS (35-28)
Corey Kluber pitched six innings, struck out three, and gave up two runs against the Yankees. Yandy Diaz went 1-for-4. Harold Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk. The Rays lost 2-0.
Shane McClanahan went six innings, struck out seven, and gave up four runs; one earned. Diaz went 2-for-5. Manuel Margot went 2-for-3 with a walk. The Rays lost 4-3.
Jalen Beeks pitched two scoreless innings and struck out one. Francisco Mejia hit his 5th home run of the year. The Rays lost 2-1.

Yusei Kikuchi pitched four innings, struck out four, and gave up four runs. Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with a home run. Gabriel Moreno went 3-for-4. The Jays lost 6-5.
Jose Berrios pitched seven innings, struck out eight, and gave up three runs. Teoscar Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a home run. Guerrero Jr went 4-for-5 with a home run. The Jays won 7-6.
