NEW YORK YANKEES (31-13)
Gerrit Cole started against the Orioles. He pitched eight innings, struck out 11 but gave up five runs. Aaron Judge went 2-for-3 with a walk and two home runs. He scored three out of the four runs. The Yankees lost 6-4.
Jordan Montgomery pitched six innings, struck out five, and gave up two runs. Anthony Rizzo hit his 11th home run of the season. Gleyber Torres hit two home runs. Jose Trevino went 3-for-4 with a home run on the night that was his father’s birthday. The Yankees won in walk-off fashion 7-6.
J.P. Sears was called up to start the series finale. He pitched five scoreless innings and struck out five. Miguel Andujar went 2-for-3. Clay Holmes got his 5th save of the season. The Yankees won 2-0.
The Yankees signed INF Matt Carpenter to a major league contract. Nestor Cortes, Jameson Taillon, Garret Cole, and Luis Severino are scheduled to face the Rays in the four-game set.
INJURY NEWS
Chad Green and Luis Gil will get Tommy John Surgery. Aroldis Chapman was placed on the IL with an Achilles injury. Jonathan Loaisiga was placed on the IL with shoulder inflammation. Josh Donaldson remains on the COVID-IL for now. Giancarlo Stanton exited the game 2Â early with tightness in the right calf and was later placed on the IL with a calf strain. Aaron Hicks has right hamstring tightness and was scratched from game one against the Rays.

BOSTON RED SOX (21-23)
Nick Pivetta faced the White Sox and lasted six innings. He struck out five and gave up three runs. The offense exploded early and everyone in the starting lineup joined the party. After missing Sunday’s game, J.D. Martinez returned to the lineup and went 4-for-5 with a walk. Trevor Story went 2-for-6. Franchy Cordero went 2-for-3 with a walk. The Red Sox won 16-3.
Rich Hill pitched five innings, struck out one, and gave up three runs; two earned. Martinex went 2-for-3 with two walks. Tanner Houck pitched three scoreless innings and struck out three. The Red Sox lost 3-1.

Michael Wacha pitched 4.1 innings, struck out two, and gave up five runs. Kike Hernandez hit his third home run of the day. Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk. Kevin Plawecki hit his first home run of the season. Martinez went 3-for-5 with a walk. The Red Sox won 16-7.

David Rasmussen pitched five innings, struck out seven, and gave up three runs. Wander Franco went 2-for-4. Manuel Margot went 1-for-3. The Rays won 5-4.
The Yankees come to town for a four-game set. Ryan Yarbrough, Jeffrey Springs, Corey Kluber, and Shane McClanahan are scheduled to pitch.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (23-20)
Jose Berrios took the mound against the Cardinals. He pitched six innings, struck out seven, and gave up three runs. George Springer hit his 8th home run of the season. Alejandro Kirk went 1-for-4. The Cardinals came back from behind and won in extra innings on a walk-off grand slam. The Jays lost 7-3.
Kevin Gausman pitched six scoreless innings and struck out eight. Vladimir Guerrero Jr went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk. Bo Bichette went 2-for-5. Danny Jansen went 2-for-5 with a home run. The Jays won 8-1.
The Jays go to the West Coast to face Shohei Ohtani and the Angels. Hyun Jin Ryu, Yusei Kikuchi, and Jose Berrios are scheduled to pitch.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES (18-27)
