After Years Of Heartbreak, And Disappointing Results, Georgia Wins It! But Can They Repeat as Nation
It is always a great moment in the sport’s history when you see a team rise through the ranks to bear the fruit of years and even decades of hard work. Such was the atmosphere at the end of the last season when Georgia Bulldogs broke the years-long curse to become the National Champions in College Football. While it was their seventh win overall, what made it special, and praiseworthy was the fact that the title had evaded the team for the past four decades.
Thus, the 41-year-long drought finally ended as the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Alabama side comprehensively with a margin of 33-18. While success has finally come their way, now a more important question is whether it would stay with the champions or betray them as it has done for so long. Can Georgia Bulldogs defend their Championship Title? Can they put on a promising and dominant performance as they did the last year? Does this new-look team still possess the fuel and the firepower to go the distance this year?
While there is no guaranteed answer to these questions, there are numerous reasons to believe that the Bulldogs will go on to win back-to-back Championship titles.
Have any teams won consecutive National Championships in the past?
Though the feat has been achieved in the past, it has been very rare. Over the years, only a few teams have won consecutive Championships. These include Army in 1944 and 1945. Notre Dame in 1946 and 1947. Oklahoma in 1955 and 1956 and again in 1974 and 1975. Nebraska in 1970 and 1971 and 1994 and 1995. Minnesota in 1940 and 1941. USC in 2003 and 2004. In addition to these teams, Alabama has accomplished it on three different occasions – First in 1964 and 1965, then in 1978 and 1979, and most recently in 2011 and 2012.
Now that it’s been a decade since a team last won consecutive titles, one can pin hopes on this strong Bulldogs line-up to achieve the feat.
Before we look into different factors that make Georgia a force to reckon with, it is important to look at how Georgia did at the drafts.
How did Georgia Bulldogs do at the NFL Draft?
Many have been calling it a double victory for Georgia as they first won the National Title and then won at the NFL Draft as well. While it may come as a very generous remark, the facts support the argument.
A dominant hand at the Draft shows Georgia’s Strength – Bright Prospects have a shot at the second consecutive title
Many had feared that several Key Members of the title-winning squad would be lost to the draft. But Georgia still has enough firepower in their squad amid all losses. Even in the coaching staff, they lost Dan Lanning. But they still have the services of smart minds like Glenn Schumman, Jahmile Addae, and Will Muschamp.
At the NFL Draft, a record of 15 Georgian players was picked, which is the most players picked from a team in a draft since the system switched to a 7-round format.

Defensive ranks have traditionally been strong at the Dawgs. The same is expected from the young players rising through the ranks.

Favorable Scheduling can pave the way to Championship Title:
Another reason to believe in the title defense campaign of the Bulldogs is their favorable scheduling. They are scheduled to play relatively easier teams like Kent State and Samford before going to Atlanta. They can easily get there if things go right with an unbeaten 12-0 record.
Todd Monken can lead the Offensive Charge to give Georgia a clear lead:
Under Todd Monken’s inspired leadership, Georgia is expected to be led by its well-balanced offensive system. This can perfectly complement its already consolidated defensive lines and thus makes Georgia a real contender for the title.
Kirby Smart will have a role to play!
Kirby smart achieved his life-long dream of winning the championship title and is expected to return to the season with more confidence, better strategies, and greater inspiration. He has proved his credentials to all, and this is his chance to express himself without any unnecessary pressure. His role is going to be instrumental in this campaign.
Recently, smart signed a massive 112.5 million Dollar contract extension for ten years. This shows the faith that the team has and the association that the two share.
