2023 Patriots Roster- Part IV- Competitions

What are the competitions to watch, here is some camp watching fun.
QB- Trace McSorley vs Malik Cunningham
The competition should go the way of Cunningham as the 3rd "QB". McSorley is here only if a disaster occurs.
RB- Kevin Harris vs Unknown Free Agent
Harris is the 4th guy, on the practice squad or they bring in player X when needed.
WR- Kendrick Bourne vs Demario Douglas vs Kayshon Boutte vs Tre Nixon vs The Courted Free Agent.
Fighting for 2 to 3 spots. Bourne is a lock if not in the doghouse. Douglas has the leg up because he is a True Slot, Kick Returner and Mentally tough. Boutte needs to go Freshman year at LSU to really show and overcome. Nixon was the Ernie Adams pick and you read about him making plays in workouts but he's in year 3. A free agent's name escapes me.
TE- Anthony Firkser vs Scotty Washington
Neither, one, or both could make the roster depending on the roster construction. Both guys are solid pass catchers on a team that will run a lot of 12 personnel. If they feel the last 3 WR listed aren't ready, both could be here.
OT- Trent Brown vs Reilly Reiff vs Calvin Anderson vs Andrew Stueber vs Conor McDermott
If right, Trent Brown is your LT. He may just need a good Dante phone call and talk with Klemm. Reilly Reiff has a leg up on the other 3 at RT, probably a coach in the future and they'd play to his strengths and chip the right side. Anderson is competing to Swing OT against the other 2, who are all competing with Reiff at RT.
IOL (2) James Ferentz vs Chasen Hines
If Hines had flashed, we don't see the Jake Andrews pick. Ferentz is a known commodity. Both could be PS or cut.
EDGE (3 1/2) Damarcus Mitchell vs Anfernee Jennings vs Ronnie Perkins with a side of Keion White versatility.
Keion White and his versatility have a huge impact on the future of the other three players. Mitchell has the best pass-rush ability and likes car crashes on Special Teams. Jennings could be a nice trade chip for a team needy at EDGE on roster cutdown day. Perkins will be given every opportunity because of the previous 2 seasons if healthy.
DL (4) Lawrence Guy vs Daniel Ekuale vs Carl Davis vs Sam Roberts
Guy is the veteran, who knows the system and his role but could be considered repetitive to younger players on the roster. Ekuale (pass rush) and Davis (run downs) would fit specific roles in the defense. Roberts has the most upside and is the most skilled all-around of the group.
LB (1) Mack Wilson vs positional versatile locks
The league has become very sub-packaged and the roster is littered with flexible players who can play at the 2nd level even if not in the position they are listed.
CB (4) Myles Bryant vs Shaun Wade vs Ameer Speed vs Isaiah Bolden
We probably won't learn anything about Bryant and Wade. They are what they are, both skill and fit-wise to the roster. Bolden has the kick return ability if the Patriots decide to use Marcus Jones more on both sides of the ball. Speed needs to win a job on ST and be a depth piece in the secondary.
S (1) Joshuah Bledsoe
He's one of the key pieces of whatever the Jack Jones fallout becomes. Jalen Mills would see more time at CB and Bledsoe is one of the last guys on the 53.
